Another programme that we are involved in is Bush Builders, through Wellington Zoo.

It is a programme that helps us learn about plant life and ecosystems, and provides resources and materials to green up our school in the process.

Room four is participating in the programme, and work began in term 3 with a visit to the zoo to learn about how to survey grounds and soil. After that Zoo staff visited the school and helped us survey the grounds and soil at Kilbirnie School.

Planting Day

Monday 18 October was Planting Day. About 20 children from room 4, some Zoo staff, Mrs Mudge and a couple of parents all got stuck in and planted about 100 plants in just over an hour. Room 4 made the attached slideshow of the morning’s work.
